Group Log, October 2009

Thursday 1st October – Richard and male star George visit Billericay as recommended and the search for locations has begun. Scoping the high street first 1 possible cafe is pinpointed but the atmosphere is not ideal and it is selected as back up choice. After the largely unsuccessful stroll up and down the high street, Lake Meadow is viewed. Seen as a perfect place to film to park scene and experiment with some shots of moving water in the wind it is also perfect for the cafe scene and the staff and management are welcoming and helpful in giving permission to film there!

Unfortunately though Keith has to leave the group due to previously unforeseen circumstances but with plenty of planning and preparation having already taken place Richard agrees that the best option is to carry on as planned on his own.

Saturday 3rd October – First day of filming, park bench scene with Female character and an extra was filmed along with an experimental shot of moving water under a tree.

Sunday 4th October – First day of filming in the cafe, Cafe shots experimented with from different angles, previous days recordings viewed and discussed, Angle for cafe filming chosen for next visit. Shot of George throwing stones into the lake filmed as part of a ‘Montage of despair’

Monday 5th October – First attempt to capture fails due to technical errors and video editing suite continues to play-up. More shots considered such as a possible scene on top of a multi-story car park.

Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th October – Train scene finally added to storyboard including a scene where male character walks down the train, looks at a seat where the female character dissolves into the seat and out again after a couple of seconds. Also... A scene where a train passes an empty bench and the girl is sat on the bench after the train reveals it again.

Sunday 11th October – Final day of filming at Lake Meadow and Cafe. Ending is filmed including all of the cafe sections and the finale with female character rushing out of the cafe and it cutting to an over the shoulder shot of the male that zooms in on the female. Other possible scenes to fill the gaps in the storyboard are suggested and the trip to film in London is discussed. Introduction 2 characters, with photos, added to blog.

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th October – Storyboard updated further and blog updated to include recent log books and more preliminary work before filming took place.

Friday 16th October – Log Book for October so far loaded onto the blog and storyboard continued with. Trip to London planned further including routes and locations.

Week Beginning Monday 19th October - Brainstorming, discussions and planning and the forefront of my mind. Considered the name of the group and worked on creating a mechanism for the filming of the tracking shots. Various suggestions put forward untill the use of a pushchair is available. Storyboard is changed dramatically as the video takes a slightly different direction due to what options are available. Different shots planned based on edited storyboard.

Week Beginning 26th October - Half Term Week, Blog updated further including checking earlier posts such as Britney Spears Evaluation, work time limited due to commitments to other subjects, including a trip to Poland for History.
